Gratitude & Giving Back with a Diaper Drive.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to everyone who donated to our diaper drive for the Shirley Schneider Support Centre. We were able to drop off many, many diapers and wipes for the parents to stock up with before they break for the holidays. We appreciate your support in our desire to help babies be in fresh, clean, unsoiled diapers.

Queen City Doulas and Co is proud to announce we are initiating a Diaper Drive this holiday season for the Shirley Schneider Support Centre at Balfour Collegiate.
During the next 30 days we will be collecting diapers and wipes to deliver to the SSSC the week before Christmas. We will also be collecting monetary donations if that is easier for you and we will go and do some shopping for supplies on your behalf. If you contact us with the form below, we will come and pick up the donations from you. We encourage you to challenge your friends or ask your workplace to participate.

Why are we doing this? One of the things we identified a new family may need that we would feasibly coordinate and help with is addressing diaper needs. Plain and simple diaper needs. The demand & struggle of providing clean diapers may mean a family needs to cut back on essentials like food and utilities. In homes experiencing diaper needs the babies in the home may be kept in wet and/or dirty diapers for extended periods of time. Sometimes in more extreme cases, babies may be placed in a used diapers that has been cleaned or dried out. It has been determined 1 in 5 families have diaper needs.
Wet and dirty diapers can lead to irritation, discomfort, diaper rash and infections. Babies experiencing these concerns will cry more often. The crying can affect the connection to the care provider, increase stress on the family and can increase the potential risk of abuse.
By providing diapers to the SSSC we can help ensure that the diaper needs of the babies can be meet during the day and that families can take some diapers home during the holidays to meet their needs while the centre is closed for the holiday season. With any luck at all, the donations will surpass what is needed for the holiday season and last well in 2018.
If you would like to donate the week of December 18 we will be collecting donations at Pasqua South Medical Centre located at 3515 Pasqua Street. If you would like to encourage your workplace and friends, we appreciate it and can coordinate a pickup of group donations. Let the season of gratitude and giving back begin.
